Very few animated films are ever submitted for International Feature, but despite that, Luxembourg chose Icarus as their entry.
Directed by Carlo Vogele, Icarus is a movie about the myth that we all know very well. The film itself doesn’t change much to the story we all know, but it’s still a gorgeous, poetically beautiful film to watch.
The wings represent Icarus’ father giving him life. The ocean and the sun represent the two extremes of denying oneself and overindulging oneself. Life is a gift and every day is a blessing. Maintaining a balance with everything is the key to happiness and success.
